Warner Bros. is Releasing a “Death and Return of Superman” Boxset
Warner Bros. and the DC Animated Universe have recently announced the release of a collectors box set titled the Death and Return of Superman. The gift set will see the rerelease of both animated films The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen.
The two films will be adapted into a “comprehensive” 166-film including never-before-seen footage. Combining the two movies previously released over the last year promises to make one epic film that is more in-line with the original 1992-93 comic run.
To be available on October 1st, the Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray copies will include an exclusive ‘Steel’ figurine and a bonus disc of 2007’s Superman: Doomsday. The collected film will also be available for digital copies on the same day as the video release. Additionally, there will be 45-minutes of bonus content included with the release.
Our Take:
It is no lie that we are big fans of the DC Animated Universe, and these two films both received positive reviews on Bubbleblabber. Death of Superman, a story that has been done multiple times before, was executed like never before. The slower start of that film should be less impactful for the collected longer running amalgamation. Reign of the Supermen was also a strong film but required the context of the other to make sense. So, combining the two films, with added content seems like a clever, and necessary execution. In all honesty, the 166-minute collected film should help to elevate both movies, and we couldn’t be more excited.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
