Unknown Hinson Fired From “Squidbillies” Following Disparaging Remarks Against Dolly Parton ; Dan Harmon & Marge Simpson Also Under Scrutiny
Squidbillies star Stuart Baker aka Unknown Hinson(Early Cuyler) has been fired from the show following disparaging remarks the musician had made at the expense of Dolly Parton. Just the other day, Stuart Baker had posted on his Facebook page (that has since been removed) that Dolly Parton was a “bimbo” and a “slut”. As a result, the Reverend Guitars of Ohio have subsequently dropped their marketing of Baker’s signature guitar followed shortly by his termination at the hands of creators Jim Fortier and Dave Willis.
Squidbillies was recently renewed for a 13th season, it is unclear whether or not Unknown had already recorded for the upcoming run of episodes. Furthermore, Adult Swim is not commenting on anything at the moment.
In related news, extreme right wingers are calling for the ‘cancels’ of “Marge Simpson” and Dan Harmon. For Marge, they are pretty pissed off about the character’s recent comments speaking out against a Trump staffer who had not nice things to say about her. For Dan, calls were made after one of his old bits resurfaced thereby throwing accusations of pedophilia against the Rick and Morty creator.
Our Take
It’s common for a “work-for-hire” contract to include clauses about social media use being a possible means to an end and someone should have told Stu Baker that. I’m not worried about Marge, but people trying to sack Dan Harmon over a 20-year-old bit need to eat a pile. That said, it’s going to eventually get to the point where nobody interesting has a social media presence as a result of the amount of scrutiny that is paid to them. How Squidbillies will manage without one of it’s major voice actors in both the short-term and long-term will be interesting.
It is odd that Early Cuyler has had so many controversial lines thrown at everybody that one would wonder how terms like “bimbo” or “slut” are that much worse, but such is 2020, the official year of looking back.
Synopsis:
Squidbillies is written and produced by Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) and Jim Fortier, the quarter-hour animated comedy series follows America’s favorite family of violent, rural cephalopods addicted to ignorance and raising hell in the red clay of Dougal County, Georgia.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
