Universal Studios Is Rounding Up “Strays” For New Hybrid Comedy Film
Universal Studios has just wrapped production on a brand-new live-action/animated comedy film entitled Strays directed by Josh Greenbaum. The adult comedy written by Dan Perrault follows an abandoned dog voiced by Will Ferrell who later befriends other strays (one of them voiced by Jaime Foxx) as they get revenge on their former owner (played by Will Forte). According to THR who broke the news, the film is now in post-production with the dogs being animated via VFX.
Our Take
This should be a fun one! Universal already has another hybrid in development with Seth MacFarlane’s Ted being adapted into a series for Peacock. Forte has been busy with voicework for series like The Great North and Housebroken, and Will Ferrell is typically a slam dunk regardless.
Update 2/16: Universal has announced a Friday, June 9, 2023 theatrical release date for Strays.
Update 3/16: Isla Fisher has joined the cast.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
