“Trill League” Being Pitched for Animated Adaptation At Adult Swim
Check out a teaser, and everything we know so far.
There was a time when black culture was really starting to come to its own in terms of adult animation. At one point in time, The Boondocks, Black Dynamite, Major Lazer( I know Diplo isn’t black, but rap music was an invention of black culture…fact), and Lucas Bros. Moving Company were all on TV within the year of each other. Nowadays, we really don’t have a whole heck of a lot to choose from for that particular art form with the exception being Legends of Chamberlain Heights.
Enter the recent rumors that Adult Swim is currently evaluating an animated adaptation of Trill League, a popular webcomic that is a paradoxical look at superheroes and anime mashed with hip hop. The franchise was created by Marvel artist and former producer Anthony Piper of such shows like the aforementioned Major Lazer., Harmonquest, and a slew of others. With Adult Swim’s upfronts presentation right around the corner, this could be announced as “in development” by the time we get there to go along with the slew of other already-made announcements concerning popular Adult Swim franchises like Mike Tyson Mysteries, Squidbillies, Apollo Gauntlet, Rick and Morty, Hot Streets, Robot Chicken, and Mr. Pickles all of which have been announced to premiere this year with new seasons complete with teasers.
Watch a teaser posted below of the animated take on Trill League by way of the show’s Facebook page.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
