Toonami News: Gemusetto: Death Beat(s) Teaser ; JoJo’s Return ; Fire Force Season Two ; Hunter X Hunter

After a long COVID-19 induced hiatus, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures is slated to make some sort of return starting on August 1st with episode 142 entitled “Get to the Roman Colosseum”. The English dubbed adaptation only has about a dozen more episodes to go before the “Golden Wind” arc wraps so, hopefully, we can get through them in one fell swoop.

In other news, Toonami has announced the linear acquisition of Fire Force season two which currently streams on Funimation. The Toonami broadcast is expected to premiere on October 24th, but the action toon block is going to air the second half of the show’s first season until then beginning next Saturday night at 1:00a.

Here’s the new Toonami schedule:

Toonami Lineup 8/1:
12:00AM – Dragon Ball Super
12:30AM – JoJo Golden Wind
01:00AM – Mob Psycho
01:30AM – Black Clover
02:00AM – Ballmastrz
02:30AM – Naruto: Shippuden
03:00AM – Samurai Jack S5

Bloodfeast has officially dropped a bit of a tease for Gemusetto: Death Beat(s).  For those that don’t know, Gemusetto: Death Beat(s) is the second season follow-up to Gēmusetto Machu Picchu which is expected to premiere on September 25th with 14 quarter-hour episodes on the way. The original series follows the exploits of Makasu, a sportsman and relic thief that constantly challenges the gods of several different religions for their relics, and his companion Back Pocket Dimension Flying Bear on their quest to gain the treasures of the Inca Gods all the while he is chased by Bendy Rivers, a member of Interpol tasked with stopping Makasu.

The series parodies anime–style shows, intentionally using rather strange and amateurish animation, constantly shifting quality in drawing style, as well as rather off–beat and crass humor. The program also features several other segments in between “episodes” and parts such as alternate openings for each part, educational material regarding the different Inca Gods, flashback segments of past challenges Makasu has faced, and fake toy commercials promoting the program.

Last, but not least, one-time Toonami regular Hunter X Hunter has 75 English-dubbed episodes available on Funimation as of this week starting July 31st.

Synopsis: “Young Gon dreams of following in his father’s path and becoming a Hunter, an elite class of adventurer with legendary skills. But to make the grade he’ll first have to pass the extremely difficult and dangerous Hunter Qualification Exam.

“His journey leads him on the shared path of the Hunter’s exam, to lands beyond imagination and to friends who grow closer with each new trial. As the difficulty of the challenges mounts, will Gon and his friends prevail or will they wash out like so many others?”
