Toonami Announces SSSS.Gridman For 2021 Bow

Two big announcements came from Toonami this past weekend at Adult Swim Festival. One of them is the fact that the Toonami Pre-Flight show (and all of the other Adult Swim streams) was being canceled. The other is that the action toon lineup for Adult Swim has acquired the linear rights for the English dubbed adaptation of Funimation’s SSSS. Gridman for a January 16th, 2021 bow.

SSSS.Gridman is an anime television series co-produced by Tsuburaya Productions and Trigger. The series is directed by Akira Amemiya, written by Keiichi Hasegawa, and animated by Trigger. Masayuki Gotou designed Gridman with Masaru Sakamoto handling the other character designs, many of which are directly inspired by characters from the Transformers franchise.  Shirō Sagisu composes the music. Synopsis:

Yuta Hibiki can’t remember who he is, and now he’s seeing and hearing things that others don’t! A voice from an old computer tells him to remember his calling, and he sees a massive, unmoving creature in the distance. Nothing’s making sense—until the behemoth springs to life! Suddenly, Yuta is pulled into the digital world, reappearing in the real one as the colossal hero—Gridman!
