A new Maggie Simpson inspired short called “PLAYDATE WITH DESTINY” will be made exclusively in theaters before Pixar’s “Onward” March 6, 2020. The G-rated short appears to show Maggie making a friend and possibly running away with him? Here’s a first-look at the short:
Former producers of The Simpsons, Bill Oakley (happy birthday, Bill!) and Josh Weinstein took a trip down memory lane to regale us of a scene in a classic episode of The Simpsons that had just celebrated it’s 25th anniversary entitled “Homer the Smithers” where Homer becomes the new Smithers and serves all of his bosses needs. Because of this, Burns acts way more cheery than normal and a particular greeting took a deep dive courtesy of Josh and Bill who actually pitched the specific gag used.
This is it! The thing I’m most proud of.@thatbilloakley & I were obsessed with this little known fact & thought it was perfect for Mr. Burns
Bell preferred “Ahoy-hoy” while his arch-enemy (and mine) Thomas Edison preferred “Hello”. Edison won but we tried to even the score. https://t.co/vJePHdhhVa

The Emmy Award-, Annie Award- and Peabody Award-winning animated comedy will begin its 31st season this year.
