The Internet Is Drawing Comparisons Between Greta Thunberg and “Lisa Simpson”

A pre-teen young lady going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure her environment is safe? That premise could perfectly encapsulate Lisa Simpson as well as Greta Thunberg. The only difference is, Lisa is an animated character and Greta is doing it in real life.

Greta has been in the news a lot lately, first coming to international acclaim for traveling across the Atlantic Ocean from the UK to the United States to bring awareness to climate change. Since then, the 16-year-old girl has spoken at the UN and is in talks for a Nobel Peace Prize. Likewise, Lisa Simpson has been a staunch advocate for climate science and has done so in various episodes of The Simpsons and even the premise for the start of The Simpsons Movie. 

So, did The Simpsons predict Greta Thunberg? Probably not. But, if little girls making dents in the world is the moral of these stories? Well, then I don’t care WHERE these ideas come from, just as long as they are put into practice.
