The Catholic League Isn’t Happy With “South Park”, Not That Anyone Asked Them Anyway

The statement is hilarious.

The Catholic Church has been on the wrong side of controversy for the better part of the last 30 years for a slew of reasons, the most prominent being whether or not anything taught by their biblical teachings is even accurate (spoiler alert: they aren’t). That said, the most popular of strains against the church is all of the news surrounding their priests taking advantage of underage youth, typically young boys. The most recent episode of South Park tackled this issue head-on in a recent episode entitled “A Boy And A Priest”/

The premise of the episode revolved around a very special relationship that had developed between Butters and the Parish Priest.  Then, when the town finds the church doors locked and no sign of the pair, they call in the Catholic Church who comes in with high tech equipment to clean up all the entrails expected to be left behind by the priests.

Turns out, Catholic League president Bill Donohue was NOT a fan of this portrayal and made sure to release a statement saying as such:

The October 3rd episode of “South Park,” titled “A Boy and a Priest,” portrayed molesting priests as pedophiles. This is factually inaccurate:  almost all the molesters–8 in 10–have been homosexuals. Therefore, the cartoon-victim characters should have been depicted as adolescents, not kids.

In Hollywood, the creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are seen as courageous. They are really cowards. It takes courage to tell the truth.

Yet again, the Catholic League, and most religious right organizations in general are made to look like a bunch of fuddy-duddies that don’t know what they are talking about though I would’ve loved to be in a room (under heavy security surveillance) with the Catholic League’s viewing audience whilst watching South Park, the Senior Living’s recent champion in most offensive TV shows ever.
