TBS Spins an Order for ‘Tarantula’ Animated Series
Tajiri would be proud.
TBS has ordered a new animated comedy slated to release in 2017 from producers Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James, and David Gordon Green with studios Rough House Productions and Studio T. It’s an open-ended order for Tarantula, a series created by Carson Mell (Silicon Valley).
Prime-time animated series Tarantula revolves around the residents of the Tierra Chula Resident Hotel (aka “The Tarantula”). It centers on Echo Johnson, a respected but uncertified tattoo artist who delivers absurd yet introspective monologues. Echo’s poetic ramblings spin tales of misadventures with the other residents, as they partake in party crashing, dumpster diving and other socially dubious acts of mischief.
Rough House Productions has had a rough history in getting shows picked up for second seasons with past efforts like Chozen on FX and Good Vibes on MTV both getting yanked after the first season. Also, the studio seems to offer up shows with odd premises. Good Vibes took place in Southern California and Chozen featured a gay character in the lead role, the latter being considered a bit taboo at the time. Tarantula is certainly following suit in the ‘different’ category, let’s see if the first season is received warmly.

Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
