TBS Head Says More Animation Coming in 2017

Variety.com did a nice story about American Dad’s 200th episode which is set to premiere this Monday Night @ 8:30 pm ET/PT only on TBS. And while the story about the actual episode and reasons for the show’s extended stay were nice moments, my personal favorite note came when the story talked about the future of animation on TBS.

TBS executive vice president of original programming Brett Weitz tells Variety “American Dad” helped “set a due north course” for where TBS wanted to head as a brand. “It’s the same thing we did with ‘Conan’: If you build it, they will come,” he says, adding that the comedy-driven cabler’s renovations will continue next year. “We’ll build more animation around (‘American Dad.’) We have things in development for 2017. We couldn’t be more excited about what these guys have provided. They’re part of setting the network on this new trajectory.

This is huge news to come on the back of Turner’s other huge news that the media conglomerate will have more streaming services to come out later this year. More animation is a great way for new and existing brands to create content for different territories and get merchandising on the back-end.

So what animation do you guys wanna see on TBS? More Futurama perhaps?
