Review: Highly Gifted “Dave on the verge of a nervous breakdown”

Snapchat’s first original animated series is relatable, funny and a surprisingly perfect fit for its platform. A few years ago, at the Golden Globes Amy Poehler joked that Snapchat would eventually win the award for Best Drama Series. It’s a comment that feels unexpectedly prescient to me today, as I realized just how rapid the rise of streaming services has been.

Review: Michaela Müller’s “Airport”

Who hasn’t been to an airport, or travelled by plane? For writer, director and animator Michaela Müller, these universal experiences are the catalysts behind her acclaimed short film Airport, which has been screening at festivals internationally and stateside (including Sundance) since the latter half of 2017. Painting directly onto glass to gorgeous effect, Müller creates vivid, impressionistic portraits of familiar scenarios to explore the range of emotions we feel when travelling.
