Steven Spielberg didn’t bother looking at proposed Jurassic Park animated series
Did you know the original Jurassic Park cost less than $70 million to make and made over a BILLION dollars at the box office? I’m sure movie executives look at numbers like that nowadays and wonder what could have been. To put that into perspective, Jurassic World cost twice that and made about one and a half-billion which is still excellent. So, with a property so viable, it’s no surprise that there were people who wanted to capitalize with merchandise and a bunch of other money-making ventures for the venerable franchise.
Long-time fine arts mafioso William Stout recently spilled the beans on a one-time proposed Jurassic Park animated TV series that never made it to air. Apparently, a trailer was put together and everything and was presented to Steven Spielberg, but the famed director never bothered to check it out.
Universal executives pitched the idea as a prime-time and more mature animated series, though where the fuck that would have aired- is beyond me. Remember, this was the early 90s, and it was a time when broadcast networks were king and cable programming was still in its infancy. But, with the recent success of Jurassic World and cable programming a-plenty, maybe someone can take a look at it? Christ knows we can use some more unique shit on TV.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
