‘Simpsons’ Producer Puts Coma Theory to Rest

Homer coma

Last week we reported on one fan’s theory that Homer has been in a coma since 1993’s “So It’s Come to This: A Simpson’s Clip Show” and everything since has simply been a dream. Despite this idea becoming increasingly popular, it was shot down by executive producer Al Jean in a statement to TMZ.

“It would mean back in 1993 we would presume the show was going on for years and years more and right before we left, threw this hidden monkey wrench in for all our successors,” Jean said.

In the end, I don’t think many people actually believed the theory to be true, but were instead just interested in seeing if it actually added up, as well as floating a possible creative conclusion to the series. Jean’s statement unfortunately takes the fun out of that, and now we must all come up with something else.

However, it’s always nice to see a big-shot producer converse with his show’s followers so freely – something Al has always been more than willing to do.
