Shorts Review: Bravest Warriors – Season of the Mitch

“Season of the Mitch” picks up where “Season of the Worm” left off. The Dimension Jungle burns in the background as Beth, a depressed Danny, and a one-armed Wallow look for Mr. Tezuka and his hamster priest army. When Beth confronts her father, she finds that boils and scars have broken out across his body. He responds to the intrusion by trapping Danny and Wallow with their own weapons. Soon, Beth finds out that her father didn’t want to bring the Aeon Worm into their world. He wanted to make Aeon Worm babies by forcing Beth to mate with the Worm.

Ew.

Apparently, the Worm needed the blind faith of the hamsters in order to leave the See-Through Zone for short periods of time. As the Aeon Worm begins to brainwash Beth, Hamster Mitch reveals the truth within – he is Beth’s Paralyzed Horse. The Horse fights with Pickle Chips, giving Beth enough time to come to her senses. Beth attacks her father with her Holocats, but one of them accidentally grabs Hamster Mitch’s body and walks away. Danny, still depressed from causing the loss of Wallow’s arm, sees Beth being lifted into the air by the Aeon Worm. Luckily, the Holocat walks past, grabbing the attention of Danny’s dog sword. This snaps Danny back to the present and giving him a bit of insight on how to save his friends.

This episode definitely has some very dark pieces. Wallow makes a lot of jokes about losing his arm. So many, in fact, that I’m not sure if he is actually upset about it. In addition, Danny spends a lot of time extremely depressed about his role in situation. Beth is pretty much the only character who hasn’t gone insane…at least until the Aeon Worm gets his psyche on her. Even as she is being brainwashed by the creature, she is begging for Chris to come save her. Yet Chris doesn’t make a single appearance in this episode. It is almost like he has abandoned his friends.

That said, this was a very entertaining episode. I do like the way the story progressed in both parts of the finale. Season 3 was also announced today. I can’t wait to see where they go from here. I think that next season could be very exciting.
