Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) Is Drawing Comparisons To Mayor Quimby From “The Simpsons” After This Gaffe

To be fair, it’s not just Senator Ted Cruz that’s been doing this shit. We reported on similar instances of politicians leaving COVID-infected areas which includes Austin, Texas Mayor, Steve Adler. This go-round it’s Ted Cruz in the hot seat who attempted to flee Texas after the state’s power grid effectively collapsed after a winter storm moved through and put a bunch of the Midwest in the dark.

For fans of The Simpsons, this sounds all too familiar to the classic episode “Marge In Chains” which is an episode that has been getting far too much attention in 2020. The episode features a scene where Mayor Quimby is telling everyone to stay calm during a pandemic only for the camera to pan and discover the motherfucker is sitting on an island. Likewise, Ted Cruz decided to try and flee a frozen Texas to go to Cancun only to have to turn around after the internet found out about it.

The aforementioned episode “Marge In Chains” is also noted to have predicted the bee swarm over Springfield (remember murder hornets?) and was often pantomimed to make look like it predicted COVID-19 in the first place which was probably a bit more of a stretch than the other predictions. Still though, I wish each episode would just end with lottery numbers so that we can see what happens.
