Season Review: Wander Over Yonder Season Two
Second season slump for sure.
I remember when Wander Over Yonder first premiered on a Friday Night for Disney Channel. At the time we had a lot of great shows on Disney, all of which have had their respected series finales. Phineas and Ferb, Fish Hooks, Gravity Falls, and now Wander Over Yonder each had respective runs, but only the latter two series really started to mess around with the concept of story arcs over the course of the season.
Here’s the difference, when Gravity Falls did its final season, the episodes were one hell of a roller coaster ride that took you through an emotional journey that led to a breath-taking finale. Wander Over Yonder…did not.
Instead, the arcs were rather trivial and often aggravating. Whether it was Lord Hater’s ridiculous lust for Dominator, or the fact that Wander just stood his ground and made sure that he was the biggest pain in the ass he could possibly be. Every episode I rooted for both main characters to wake the fuck up and realize the situation they were in, and then do what they needed to do to get their galaxy back. Peepers and Sylvia were somewhat grounded, but Hater constantly trying to win Dominator’s affections was by far the most brain-drilling thing that I had to endure whilst reviewing this series. Wander was even worse, and was a big pain RIGHT up until the series finale.
That said, I can’t just bag the whole season of Wander Over Yonder over shitty premises. But, compared to the show’s first season, we weren’t even close with this one.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
