SDCC2017: Warner Bros. Animation Recap

Includes upcoming movies and a trailer for an upcoming CW Seed series.

I’m going to go ahead and withhold a lengthy review of Batman and Harley Quinn. I saw the movie, it’s terrible, but I’m going to let one of the other guys review it when it comes out in hopes that maybe I was just cranky whilst watching it. In fairness, it was a hot Comic Con day, suffered from slight jet lag, and I hadn’t eaten anything up until that point.

Fortunately, there were some good announcements to be had from Warner Bros. Animation. First up, not only was the film adaptation of Gotham By Gaslight officially announced, but Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, Death of Superman, and Reign of Superman will all be coming in the next couple of years.

Also of note, CW Seed has released a trailer for Freedom Fighters: The Ray, a new animated series set to stream this fall and yeah it’s intense. The first footage features a battle between Ray, the Black Condor, and others doing battle with Pro-Nazi takes on The Flash, Green Arrow, and Supergirl.

In Freedom Fighters: The Ray, Reporter Raymond “Ray” Terrill is investigating a group of government scientists who are developing a weapon using light, when he is attacked with a “genetic light bomb” that ends up bestowing him with light-based super powers.
