SDCC 2019 Recap: Netflix Showcases Seis Manos & Announces Sturgill Simpson Animated Film That Looks Insane

Netflix is going nuts.

Sturgill Simpson shows up to San Diego Comic-Con and quietly drops the bomb to end all bombs on an already bombariffic weekend. He’s got an anime film inspired by his album set to release this fall on Netflix and it looks out of control. And it’s called Sound & Fury, and it will feature each track off of Sturgill’s upcoming rock record that will then be produced and animated by Jumpei Mizusaki and Takashi Okazaki. Sturgill used terms such as “dystopian”, “samurai”, and “apocalyptic” to describe the upcoming film and this has me tickled to death. Check out the official trailer below:

Cast and crew for Netflix’s new series with Viz Media, Seis Manos, were on hand to talk all things show and from the initial looks (which you can see below) there’s definitely a case to be made for this show to maybe steal best new series of the year. The producers mention that they were inspired by Kung Fu, anime, Mexican film and more in what is certainly a star-studded affair with the likes of Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Danny Trejo (Predators), and more as part of the cast.
