RTX 2020 at Home: Red vs. Blue Zero Panel Recap

Red vs. Blue, Rooster Teeth’s longest running series, enters a new era in its eighteenth season, “Red vs. Blue: Zero”, under the leadership of showrunner Torrian Crawford. He was joined on the panel by other cast and crew from the season: Fiona Nova (One), Jeb Aguilar-Kendrick (Axel), Noël Wiggins (Raymond, also acts as co-director and writer), Hannah McCarthy (Phase), Christian Young (Zero), and co-writer Joshua Kazemi. With the October 19th premiere less than a month away, there was naturally a lot of footage to show off to get viewers hyped, though their hype seems to be nowhere near that of the cast and crew, who exude excitement to show off the fruits of their labor next month. Torrian is a longtime fan of the series, having began watching it in high school, and plans to bring that love for it into this new season with a mostly new cast. Multiple influences also came into the development of this season’s story and themes, from Fast and Furious to Naruto.

Members of the cast, notably Nova and McCarthy, are completely new to voice acting, which made McCarthy in particular nervous about being picked for her role, which amusingly puts her in the same position as most of the original cast from the Blood Gulch Chronicles. We then get to see a clip of the show showing Agent Washington, one of the few returning characters, facing off against two of the new antagonists. And in a more heartwarming twist, Gus Sorola (Simmons) and Matt Hullum (Sarge/Doc) chimed in with a message to the new team giving their praise for what they’ve seen of the new season, with Matt amusingly (and rather darkly) hoping they become so successful that they hate working with each other.

Red vs. Blue Zero premieres October 19th on Rooster Teeth’s website.
