Review: We Bare Bears “The Perfect Tree”

“How lovely are thy branches”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The episode begins when the bears help Chloe with holiday stuff while she’s on a quest to find “The Perfect Tree” as the title implies with Chloe needing Ice Bear’s muscle along with his desire “to chop something”. When they get to the specific forest location, they encounter a sign warning them about “Dangerous Wild Turkeys” but it leads to a lighthearted musical montage with Chloe until they randomly encounter a wild turkey. When the turkey almost drowns in frozen Ice, Ice Bear saves it’s life and disappears while Grizz & Panda are put in a series of comedic setpieces as they attempt to decorate Chloe’s house in her absence.

Out of happenstance, Chloe comes across the tree she so desires but chopping it, unexpectedly leads to a life or death scenario for Chloe until Ice Bear saves her at the cost of losing the tree. In an unexpected twist, the same turkey Ice Bear saved earlier shows up again with a flock of his own and let’s just say good karma comes their way. The episode ends on a lighthearted note when you see the excessively colorful aftermath of Grizz & Panda’s efforts to the exterior of Chole’s house which must be seen to be believed.

Our Take

This was a fun episode given the comedic scenarios. It also makes sense that Chloe would come to Ice Bear for help in regards to the chopping part of her tree-hunt. The turkeys themselves surprised me as when they’re first introduced they behaved like dodo birds for how bizarre their behavior was, but the twist near the end is possibly what caught me off guard most. As for Grizz & Panda’s sub-plot, it was a funny yet relatable situation for anyone who’s had to face the hardships of decorating a house for the holidays but I had a good laugh at the end.
