Review: We Bare Bears “Baby Orphan Ninja Bears”

Go ninja, go ninja, GO!

Overview (Spoilers Below)

For nearly 40 years Nickelodeon has been trying to solve the problem of not understanding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In just one episode, Daniel Chong and crew has it all figured out. Borrowing heavily from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we get a tail featuring the three baby bears heading down into the sewers and running into “The Cheddar” who is actually closer to “Splinter” than he is the “Shredder”. In any event, the bears decide to help Cheddar’s cause to take down the Boot Crew led by Slice who turns out to be Cheddar’s twin brother. Moreover, there’s an alligator in the sewer that helps settle everything and instead of calling the sewers home, the Bears opt to go out in other adventures.

Our Take

If you’re gonna do a parody of one of the greatest movies ever made, you’re gonna need to do it correctly, and the producers of We Bare Bears do just that. The pizza? Check. The pristine production on the flashback sequence. Check. It was interesting the take on the ending that Chong and company employed as this was quite the departure for the intended parody, but there’s not much to complain about here, this week’s episode is all money.
