Review: Tokyo Ghoul √A “Permeation”

TG ep 7

Well, I’ll get it out of the way now. It’s another episode of Tokyo Ghoul √A where absolutely nothing happened. “Permeation” was just Kaneki having some sort of trippy dream where the Kakuja breaks, walks into the coffee shop, and gets his face rearranged by the girl who has wanted nothing more than to have come back to her. Yup, Touka punched Kaneki right in the face. I am not sure what got accomplished, except that she probably pushed Kaneki right back to Aogiri.

The other thing here is how orgasmic Shuu got when he was smelling the napkin that had Kaneki’s blood. Yeah, there was a good chunk of Shuu almost suffocating himself with his head in the bag. Again, this accomplishes nothing except to show how creepy of a guy he is. I guess that’s cool, and all, but nothing to advance the plot happened. You know what? Let’s take a look over the course of the season so far. Outside of three episodes, nothing happened. There was two episodes that encapsulated the prison fight, and then there’s the second episode of the season.

I honestly have no idea what was supposed to be accomplished here. Again, I have a wave of “overrated” washing over me whenever I watch Tokyo Ghoul. All over the internet, this show is hailed as such an amazing show. Yet, nothing goes on. For the most part, it’s a life simulator, until Ghouls decide to attack people. I can do without the life simulator, so can we get some real plot going on? we’re over half way to the end of the season, and what do we have to show for it?

This is only the beginning of the shit smorgasbord. The review of “Permeation” would have been up about two hours earlier, except that it took forever for Funimation’s site to come back up. When trying to watch the Dubbletalk block, the site was down. Not just the “under maintenance” down, I’m talking “the site has no connection” down. So, I was able to get Assassination Classroom and Death Parade done, but late. It’s currently 11:30, and I am just getting to the end of the review.

This has been, by far, the worst night of shows, from an access point. With the growth of these shows, the capacity for accessing the site hasn’t grown. So, unless you’re really bored, just wait until tomorrow. Maybe then, Funimation can fix their site. By the way, now the site is under maintenance.
