Review: The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder “Raging Bully”

Overview

LaCienega feels threatened by her ugly-duckling-turned-beautiful-swan cousin, LaBrea, as her quinceañera approaches; Sunset’s sister, Melrose, goads her into making poor choices like buying a bunch of shit she can’t afford.

Our Take

In the 1980s there was a film called The Great Outdoors, starring John Candy (“Chet”) and Dan Akroyd (“Roman), the film revolved around Chet taking his family into the woods for a nice relaxing getaway in the woods. Eventually, his brother-in-law Roman shows up in a Mercedes and the perception that he has a ton of money thanks to his lofty investing practices. The climax features Roman admitting to Chet that he’s actually broke and was trying to get money from them.

This is almost the premise for this week’s episode of The Proud Family. Like the aforementioned movie, we get to see LaCienega’s family acting like they have all the money in the world, only to find out, that they are broke. Obvious plot parallels to the side, the penultimate episode of the franchise’s return season still brought a ton of laughs to the table. From Oscar’s horse meat snacks to the return of SnackLand, we get a comical episode from start to finish. The episode also features a litany of quality guest stars like Eva Longoria, Kid Capri, and Princess Nokia, proving that there has been no shortage of big-name stars coming to the fray which will cap off on the show’s season finale with Lil Nas X coming by.
