Review: The Patrick Star Show “Nitwit Neighborhood News/Mid-Season Finale”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Nitwit Neighborhood News
Patrick and Squidina report the news around Bikini Bottom.
Mid-Season Finale
“The Patrick Show!” presents the epic conclusion to the first half of its first season.
Our Take:
The humor in the first episode consists of Patrick being a news anchor with Squidina being his cameraman. He reports about every idiotic thing in the household, including Cecil being stuck on the fridge and GrandPat competing in a seahorse race. The siblings then take the news to Bikini Bottom, where they capture SpongeBob’s first driving lesson with Mrs. Puff and interview a criminal they thought was a celebrity. The episode ends with Perch Perkins joining the action, and the criminal has the anchors and camera people get thrown in jail.
The second episode sees Patrick and Squidina celebrating the end of his season’s first half in a goofy fashion. Considering how many idiotic things Patrick has done in his show, it’s pretty surprising that it lasted this long. The humor in this episode centers on a series of moments consisting of lame jokes and skits, like Slappy’s Poem Corner and “The Tinkle”, which parodies Lassie. GrandPat and Grandma Tentacles berate the event during the celebration, which references people’s negative reactions to The Patrick Star Show. They eventually challenged each other to an air battle that destroyed the set. Finally, the cast ended the event with a big celebrity guest who posed as Patrick the whole time.
Overall, both episodes may not have ended the show’s first half on a stellar note, but they provide enough tolerance in the scenarios to keep me curious about the spin-off’s second half. “Nitwit Neighborhood News” is a passable episode that sees Patrick reporting the most idiotic news imaginable, even though the reporter battle between him and Perch Perkins felt wasted. “Mid-Season Finale” offers what the title suggested: a goofy “celebration” of Patrick’s show’s milestone filled with surreal skits, idiotic puns, and an air battle between two cranky seniors.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
