Review: The Muppets – “Little Green Lie”

Robin! Kermit’s nephew, Robin, is coming to visit! Robin’s parents got divorced, leaving him a little emotional right now. Thinking that he can’t handle the news, Kermit and Piggy decide to tell the little frog that they are still dating. Since Scooter is a terrible liar, they tell him that they are back together. The rest of the crew just avoids the entire situation.

Wanting to keep Robin away from the crew, Kermit asks if he’d like to play laser tag. Robin tries to invite everyone anyway. Scooter and Piggy both accept the offer. Well, Scooter tweeted that Kermit and Piggy are back together and reporters descend on the group. Eventually, Kermit and Piggy have to admit that they are not together. While Robin is upset, he is more upset because the pair is perfect together. Kermit and Piggy attempt to discuss their situation but don’t really come to any sort of conclusion.

Talking about relationships, Camilla and Gonzo are actually back together. This leaves Rizzo and Pepe without a wingman. They try to recruit another member of the crew but they simply steal the pair’s women, Lara Spencer from Good Morning America and her friends. Camilla tries to get Rizzo and Pepe up with her hot friends but the duo seems to think the girls will be chickens. They’re not. Rizzo and Pepe are dumb. But at least they got their Gonzo back for now.

This episode actually felt a little like a mix between the old and the new. There was a lot of focus on relationships but there was still a little fun in there. (The Electric Mayhem playing Family Feud was quite funny.) I liked seeing Robin again but I wasn’t particularly into the “spare the kid’s feelings” cliche. It backfired, as it should, leaving us hanging once again. The season is almost over. If they are going to get Kermit and Piggy together again, they need to do it quickly. There might not be enough time left to save the show. And that would be sad.
