Review: The Muppets – “Generally Inhospitable”

Early in the episode, Miss Piggy breaks her leg practicing her dance routine for Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” At first, she refuses to admit that she has been injured. Eventually, Kermit and Deadly get her to the hospital. Once there, she finds out that she needs to have surgery, meaning she will miss the show. Piggy tells Kermit about her life on the farm when injured animals were killed. Kermit sympathizes and decides to run the show from Piggy’s hospital room. When airtime comes, Piggy accidentally hits her morphine button a few too many times, making her incoherent during the broadcast. Luckily, the rest of the cast is back in the studio, ready to take over when needed.

While Kermit was at the hospital dealing with Piggy, Rizzo, Pepe and Rolanda were left to deal with Pizza. Pizza insisted that they bring in a guest DJ to host the show while Piggy is out of commission. In an attempt to thwart his plan, the trio lock him in a dressing room and take over his phone. It turns out that Rolanda is amazing at voices. She pretends to be Pizza and get everything under control. But when Bobo was bringing Pizza some snacks, he found out that the guy has a terrible relationship with his father. Rolanda and the boys get the father on the phone, who tells Pizza that he loves him. With that over, the father offers the family business to Pizza if he returns home. Pizza agrees and leaves, hopefully forever.

As a medicated Piggy gets rolled into surgery, she tells Kermit that she loves him. Of course, she also tells the hand sanitizer that she loves it too. Kermit, not realizing that the cameras were still rolling so everyone in the studio could see him, figures out that he loves Piggy.

I love when the show brings back skits from the old Muppet Show. This time we got to see Rowlf do “Veterinarian’s Hospital” again. He, along with Nurse Janice, worked on one of the hospital’s actual patients, who didn’t know she was on a television show. It was still funny. The collaboration between The Electric Mayhem and musical guest Willie Nelson was also pretty cool. It seems like the show really is bringing back the feel of the original show. Too bad there’s only one episode left of the season.
