Review: The Loud House “Runaway McBride/High Crimes”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

Runaway McBride

Howard and Harold tear their home apart after Clyde starts spending more time with the gang and less time at home.

High Crimes

Sunset Canyon is falling apart, and Lincoln and Clyde are determined to find out why.

Our Take:

“Runaway McBride” is a McBride-centered episode centering on Clyde’s fathers. The storyline focuses on the dads attempting to have Clyde and his friends spend more time together at their house, including transforming it into the activities they enjoyed doing. As much as I enjoy the episodes centering on Lincoln and his sisters, I still appreciate the show for providing episodes that place some of the supporting characters front and center. “Runaway McBride” is another example of that scenario as it offered enough slapstick and heart to display the fathers’ struggle to accept that his son’s growing up.

The second episode, “High Crimes”, is yet another adventure involving Lincoln and Clyde. This time, we see them attempting to find the crook responsible for sabotaging the Sunset Canyon retirement home with the help of Gayle. Much of the humor in this episode centers on Lincoln, Clyde, and Nana Gayle doing spy work, harming the receptionist twice, and interrogating their suspects. While the real culprit, which happens to be Vic the Clown, was pretty obvious regarding his grumpy attitude, the episode is still a fun mystery for me to solve with the boys.

Overall, both episodes are entertaining enough to close off the show’s fifth season on a solid note. “Runaway McBride” is an amusing and heartfelt episode centering on Clyde’s fathers struggling to accept their son becoming independent. “High Crimes” is a fun spy-related quest that sees Lincoln and Clyde saving their grandparents’ retirement home. With its sixth season already set to air next week, it seems that The Loud House won’t be going away quietly anytime soon.
