Review: The Great North “Dip the Halls Adventure”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
When Jerry’s Bigfoot costume gets stolen a few days before Christmas, Beef helps him track it down. Meanwhile, the Tobin kids try to build an elaborate gingerbread village.
Our Take:
The Tobins are back to celebrate their first Christmas with their viewers. But, of course, their last adventure of 2021 will be far from peaceful. The Halloween episode of The Great North’s second season has proved that the series can provide some laughs in its spooky stories. So now, it’s looking at delivering some jolly guffaws and heartfelt gifts in its first holiday-themed episode.
Their Christmas adventure leads Beef and Jerry (Ron Funches) on a wild goose chase for Jerry’s Bigfoot costume. Additionally, the kids attempt to build a masterpiece from gingerbread for a sick Ham with bizarre results. These storylines, along with their decent humor, make this episode a holly, jolly Christmas to remember.
Out of the two storylines, the one involving Beef and Jerry was something I enjoyed the most. We see Beef struggling to give Jerry the perfect gift for Christmas. During their search for Jerry’s Bigfoot costume, Beef learns about the true meaning of gift-giving: showing others how much the giver means to them. While their wild goose chase wasn’t as wild as Beef dressing up as “Terry Claus”, it’s still an enjoyable ride that featured a costume-related riff on The Most Dangerous Game. Plus, it was nice to see another episode involving Jerry, voiced by Ron Funches.
The other subplot involving the kids making a gingerbread village was surprisingly not as interesting as I thought it would be. Making gingerbread villages is a part of a Christmas tradition, so that’s one thing that I would give it credit for. Unfortunately, because of its 25-minute runtime and its focus on Beef and Jerry, the subplot didn’t offer much else to provide some effective humor in gingerbread making. Thankfully, the kids decorating the village with pepperoni and everything else was worth a chuckle.
Overall, “Dip the Halls Adventure” brought enough Christmas cheer to maintain the show’s status regarding its holiday-themed episodes. The gingerbread subplot didn’t go all out with its scenario. Thankfully, the main plot involving Beef and Jerry’s search for Bigfoot was enough to make The Great North’s first Christmas dip a satisfying success. More importantly, it’s a solid end to the show’s first year on television. Hopefully, its second year will have more adventures that are as delightful as its Christmas spirit.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
