Review: The Cleveland Show “The Hurricane”

When a hurricane hits the town of Stoolbend, Cleveland and his family try to make the best of a ruined vacation, oh yea and Cleveland Jr., doesn’t believe in God.

Spoilers below!

A house cruise? That’s right, after throwing Joseph Gordon-Levitt under a bus and throwing out all his food, Cleveland sticks a finger to an oncoming hurricane by having a stay-cation. After an argument with Donna about her grocery shopping habits that are apparently similar to Artie Lange’s daily routine.Their last gaffe? To pray with the family, except Cleveland Jr., calls bullshit on God and doesn’t take part.

Shocked and appalled, Cleveland tries to convince his first-born that there is a God but his debate falls flat. Next up? Rallo…FAIL! After a last ditch effort with the whole family singing the word of God, Cleveland Jr goes upstairs with the rest of the family in tow, discovering that Junior bought and rationed food for 4 days in preparation for the storm. A standoff takes place with between Junior and the rest of the family which sees Cleveland under a tree and a subsequent rescue.

Overall, the episode opened really strong, but there was no “Crossover” and with religion being the underlying theme instead of the storm, I have to wonder why a storm had to be involved at any point in the story.
