Review: The Amazing World Of Gumball “The Petals”
We put the petals to the metals.
Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)
The episode begins when Gumball & Darwin get into a petty argument about their fashion choices and decide to visit Leslie the fashionista flower be a better judge on their recent clothing choices. However, when they find Leslie, he’s not in the best shape of his life as his petals are falling out. The rest of the episode is spent on Gumball & Darwin finding plant-related solutions to help Leslie look beautiful again which leads to a really funny montage full of comic hijinx and anti-parasite chemical-induced hallucinations.
The last few mins of the episode plays out like an intense suspense-thriller after hearing that for flowers to stop wilting, they need to be decapitated. Much to his horror, Leslie runs away from the two only to find out that plants are capable of regrowing their heads back and so Leslie willingly detaches his own only to be told afterward by Darwin that it’ll take until the next spring for his new head to grow and the episode comically ends with a headless Leslie chasing after the two with a pair of Garden Shears.
Our Take.
Consistently, the show keeps hitting hard with its humor while remaining pop culture-relevant with references to Lady Gaga and RuPaul’s Drag Race in the form of Leslie’s crazy & colorful outfits. What was easily my favorite joke in the episode is when Gumball simple-mindedly thought eating a book about gardening would help him absorb knowledge much to Leslie’s annoyance. And in all honesty, I’m not a gardening person but my main gripe with this episode is that you’d think Leslie being a flower himself would have some degree of knowledge about how his own plant species works.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
