Review: The Amazing World of Gumball “The Ghouls”

We may need to send this show to its grave.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Gumball and Darwin want to enjoy Halloween with Carrie who isn’t all too thrilled with the holiday nowadays. As a result, we get an “Interdimensional Cable”-esque rundown featuring parodies of some of the most notable horror franchises of all time. Everything from Nightmare on Elm Street, It, Scream, and countless others get a turn which inspires the brothers to try and help but then all hell breaks loose.

Our Take

This is my first time experiencing the Nicolas Cantu take on “Gumball” which now makes three actors who have voiced the titular character with each one of them sounding very different from the others. Ditto goes for Christian J. Simon as the newest Darwin. I bring that up because while the premise of this week’s episode was a lot of fun, even if a lot of the elements had been done countless times over elsewhere, I couldn’t help but be distracted by the new voices so much that I kept thinking “this show needs to end”. It’s actually the single reason why most women get children voice actor parts regardless of gender and Gumball is the poster-child in keeping that tradition going for as long as possible because it’s not working with these new kids.
