Review: The Amazing World Of Gumball “The Deal”
Let’s make a deal.
Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)
The episode begins when Nicole goes into a random rap song after receiving an “Employee of the Month” status going as far as to flaunt her status to the point that it comedically goes a little too far and causes Richard to struggle and prove his worth through some unusual methods of parenting much to Nicole’s disgust so in response to this, Richard goes on Strike to prove how useful he is in her absence.
And this is where the comedic moments are taken a step further as Nicole comes to discover the hard way that without Richard showing some level of authority, the minds of Gumball, Darwin, and Anais are reduced to an unsupervised primal state and the art style goes as far as to make their faces grotesquely change into Gremlins while they revel in their destructive chaos. The episode comes to a comical end when Richard proves his usefulness through some unorthodox solutions to stop the mischievously violent streak of their kids in which Nicole finally grows to acknowledge some level of appreciation for.
Our Take
The episode topped itself in terms of humor as I really wasn’t expecting everything that was going to happen. The jokes consistently made both me and even my wife burst out in laughter and each time it took a small break there was an excellent setup for one good punchline after another. I even loved how much it also paid homage to the classic 80’s film Gremlins while nailing the point home that Richard at some level has worth in the family even if Nicole wears the proverbial pants in the relationship.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
