Review: SuperMansion ‘Let’s Talk About Rex’
Spoilers Below:
While fighting Blazar solo, Titanium Rex threw his back out, and the whole world saw it – leading once again to questions about his retirement.
Rex attempted to improve his image, displaying his apparent youth and publicly challenging his opponent to a rematch, but realized he was over-matched.
Defeated, he started returning home to Subtopia, his birthplace in the Earth’s core, but learned his League teammates unanimously believed he should not retire, and turned around. He arrived back at the mansion just in time to help his friends successfully beat Blazar – not with brute strength, but a healthy dose of wisdom. He was rejuvenated by the victory.
In Case You Missed It:
1) The ship, when Rex said, “Come on, baby!”: “Please don’t call me that. It’s condescending.”
2) American Ranger called Black Saturn’s burrito a “Mexico sandwich.”
3) What was Michael Bolton a suspect for?
4) Breckin Meyer did an impression of Jimmy Fallon doing an impression of Adam Sandler. Props.
5) The Tonight Show spoof of Rex throwing his back out was a music video called “Laser Bike (In Your Mouth).”
Currently three episodes deep, Crackle’s SuperMansion has now provided a solid sample size for overall evaluation. We started with the pilot, which had clearly been worked on for a few years, and then saw a second installment which was almost as good, and now have the third attempt.
And overall, it was pretty good. I was a bit apprehensive that the episode appeared to be about Rex getting to be too old to fight, which is basically the theme of the entire show, but hopefully the episode’s ending will put that to rest for a little while.
As for the humor, there were clever references once again (including a throwback spoof of Tom Cruise’s couch jumping from way back when), a humorous side story about Black Saturn’s missing burrito and subsequent loss of a bet, and best of all: a whole lot of JewBot.
I have to say, once again, I’m really enjoying this character. He speaks in the same monotone voice all the time, but still uses phrases that contain human emotion that also display his imperfections, like the arm decision, and his attempts to be honest while also being nice.
We might not have an episode that has lived up to the quality of the pilot yet, but that’s a high standard to meet. In the meantime, I’ll just be thankful that the show, even when it’s not at its absolute best, can still produce a very funny, very entertaining show.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
