Review: Supermansion “Home Is Where The Shart Is”

Is it?

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The season premiere sees the heroes and villains move in with each other while Robobot investigates Swine Kumpf for returning to his murderous-Nazi ways. Turns out it wasn’t him at all, but the more important note here is that despite early indications that there was going to be no way in which the villains and heroes would be able to live AND work together, the climax of the episode proved otherwise.

Our Take

I would’ve liked to have seen more of Army Bond because he was probably the funniest new character of the year so far. Like perhaps we could’ve got to see him more in his present-day form and see what eventually lead to his madness. Breckin Meyer’s “Courtney” character is a slow start for me right now, but hopefully his dialogue gets better over time and we’re able to give him some screen time because the thing that worries me about combining the villains and heroes into one house is the “messiness” of having too many characters to account for which was an issue in the show’s first season.

Fortunately, the strokes of genius that the producers of this show are quite evident. For starters, Supermansion is officially the genre’s best-choreographed action/comedy with Archer now taking a back seat.  And the strong voice team of Cranston and the Emmy duo of Chris Pine and Keegan Michael-Key are just as dynamite as ever, however, the best dialogue by a mile is being fed to Robobot which is made clearly evident in the android’s interrogation scene with Swine.

So far, shart this series is not, but I can definitely see some cracks in the foundation of having a dozen or so characters to account for over the course of 20-minute episodes. If producer Zeb Wells can effectively give us the business we’d probably be fine,  especially if the continued show of strength that comes by way of the series’ exquisite fight scenes.
