Review: Spongebob Squarepants: “Bubble Bass’s Tab; Kooky Cooks”

Overview

“Bubble Bass’s Tab”

The pretentious Bubble Bass avoids paying his bill at the Krusty Krab, so SpongeBob and Squidward are sent to collect the cash owed to their establishment…

“Kooky Cooks”

Mr. Krabs makes Spongebob and Squidward cook a fancy meal for Mrs. Puff, but every dish becomes a dispute.

Our Take

A longtime recurring character Bubble Bass takes center stage as a challenge for both the Krusty Krab and by-extension Spongebob and Squidward as they attempt to confront him for a long debt that progressively elevated which leads to a series of renaissance fair-themed comedic set pieces and an ending that in a weird way almost works itself out, but the twist itself excelled in laughs.

In Kooky Cooks, Mrs. Puff grows tired of Mr. Krabbs’ frugal lifestyle. So, in an effort to show how much he cares, he invites her to his place with Spongebob & Squidward in the kitchen working on a possible dish that could satiate her, but comedic wacky hijinks in typical SpongeBob fashion ensues…

Overall both were passable episodes that delivered on the wacky humor you’d come to expect from a typical Spongebob episode with random weird plot twists and clever dialogue that somehow manages to get away with its occasional gross-out humor without going too far.  I”m surprised they haven’t banned Bubble Bass’s fishy ass from the restaurant at all…
