Review: Sheriff Callie’s Wild West “New Sheriff In Town; Buzzard Bust-out”

Even the kids are learning about the election.

Spoilers Below

The first of the two new episodes is “New Sheriff In Town.” A rather topical episode, it is about the town of Nice and Friendly Corners voting for their new sheriff. Even though everyone votes for Sheriff Callie to stay the sheriff, Boss Trouble wins the election. Of course, he immediately arrests Callie and puts her in jail. This leaves Peck and Toby to save the day. Eventually, Callie finds out that Boss Trouble switched the ballot boxes. Once the town gets the proper box back, the votes are counted again and Callie is back in action as sheriff.

In “Buzzard Bust-Out,” Callie has captured one of the Buzzard clan. As a result, the rest of the clan surrounds the town to bust him out. Luckily, the Brainstorming Bandit was flying an airplane when Callie captured him. Peck tricks the buzzard to help him fly the airplane over the clan’s blockades in order to take him back to another town and get help for Nice and Friendly Corners.

Surprisingly, I found the election episode much more entertaining than the jailbreak episode. There seemed to be a bit more action, though it would have been nice if there was a little more information about what an election is or how it works. Since this is an election year, it would have been a perfect way to teach younger children about what is going on right now without having to go into the lurid details. As for the second episode, it was kinda boring. It seemed to be entirely made up of everyone standing around talking about what to do without actually doing anything. It would have been a welcome break if the first episode had a little more kick to it. I guess we’re leaving it up to the parents to explain the election. Good luck with that.
