Review: Rick and Morty “The Rickshank Rickdemption”
Third time is definitely the charm.
I NEARLY went grocery shopping when Adult Swim started a marathon of nothing but this episode of Rick and Morty airing until Midnight ET/PT. But…APRIL FOOL’S! Adult Swim’s mastery of their unofficial holiday came to fruition and it came with it an episode that has this show premiere with an excellent effort.
In the episode, we see Rick and Morty on their own paths discovering two rather distinct universes…one being Rick’s own brain which is currently part of an Inception routine featuring the bug that arrested him at the end of last season. Meanwhile, Morty and Summer end up with the Council of Ricks as a result of using illegal technology. While all of this is going on, the Galactic Federation has invaded Earth where Jerry gets a new job and eventually a rather abrupt decision on his marriage to Beth.
Fortunately, Rick makes the save and it looks like we are off to the races in what could be a crazy third season of Rick and Morty. Don’t think the laughs weren’t here, because they were. More so when we’re in Rick’s mind and we get the running gag with the McDonald’s Szechuan sauce (which, Justin, is now just the Sweet & Sour sauce). The Council of Ricks is always a good time, too. And how about Nathan Fillion doing his best Rick Sanchez impression? And with that rather captivating post-credits scene, it looks like the Rick and Morty arcs we were getting in the third season are completely on their head.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
