Review: Rick and Morty: C-137 #2
Overview
This month’s issue sees Rick try and send a new team of potential superheroes at the likes of Snowball and Kara, both of whom are destroying NYC. Unfortunately, a quick photo-op is the only thing that goes right here as the entirety of Rick’s team gets destroyed leaving the Smith/Sanchez family to go back to the drawing board. SuperNova is here as well, but it’s clear she has ulterior motives in her aid of Rick.
Our Take
Well, this was fun. Clear and obvious odes to “One Crew over the Crewcoo’s Morty” in the initial few pages, that I kind of wish went more to action sequences than just build-up. In any event, I’m probably more excited at the prospect of the Smith/Sanchez family gearing up to be superheroes in their own right and a potential bad showdown with Snowball, Kara, and probably SuperNova in what should be one for the ages. SuperNova’s an interesting wild card because whether she’s in print, animated, or a living episode, you don’t quite know which direction she’s leaning towards so a big shout out to Stephanie Phillips for being able to locate this waffle of a character.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
