Review: Regular Show “The Key to The Universe”

Are there any masters, though?

Spoilers Below

Pops begins his training with Earl, but really all of the tasks he is asked to do look just like chores. Rigby attempts to voice his concerns and is thwarted but it doesn’t take long before Pops begins to do the same and even doubts his importance. Earl shows Pops what happens when he doesn’t train, usually it ends in a battle with Anti-Pops that ends all mankind. When Pops realizes this, his powers start to show up, and his REAL training is about to begin.

Our Take

While comedic influences from Kill Bill, Karate Kid, and others were all over the place, a lot of important things happened this episode. For starters, we’ve officially established “Anti-Pops” as the villain we are working up to. Next, we got a preview of what this fight is going to be like and it looks EPIC. I’ll be curious to see how roles for the rest of the employees fit in as time goes on the rest of the season, but if this episode is any indication, it’s going to be intense.
