The guys discover an ancient secret; Nathan delivers a eulogy and is forced to confront his emotions.

Spoilers Below

Offdensen takes the now split Dethklok to a cave that is home to a religious sect known as “Church of the Black Klok”. Its here Offdensen explains how everything went down with Salacia laying a curse on General Crozier that pretty much caused a “Separation Anxiety” of his body and soul until the church saved him. While all this was going on, Offdensen became “The Dead Man” whose job was to follow around the general and collect intel on the Falconback project whenever he could and then he returned to Dethklok.

Turns out Dethklok’s album releases are more important than we know, as each time a Dethklok album drops they ward off a pending end of the world and when Nathan destroyed the Dethalbum III in “Pranklok” it was because that album was sending a wrong message to the people looking for a savior.  The funeral for  Roy Cornickelson’s commences and Nathan gives the eulogy to a rather large crowd that includes Abigail and Magnus Hammersmith of whom Toki brings along despite Dr. Rockzo’s suspicions. During the speech, Nathan apologizes to Pickles for what went down with Abigail and all of the sudden a huge bomb explodes causing all sorts of chaos with the Metal Masked Assassin and the Revengencers showing themselves slaughtering innocents all over.

The Masked Assassin orders the murder of Toki by way of Hammersmith, and Abigail also meets her untimely demise. In order to stop the Metalocalypse, the remaining members need to finish the album and in order to do that they need their producer and more importantly their guitarist both of whom Offdensen says is still alive….

Metalocalypse is an anomaly when it comes to comedy animated series. Some shows focus on black comedy but with a message (South Park, Family Guy) others are here because they perfectly infuse action with comedy (Archer),  and others merely exist to entertain a TON of people (The Simpsons), but perhaps there is no other show on the planet that can take a pinch of all of these, infuse it into a musical comedy, and then create a world that would make fans of games like World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy jealous. Metalocalypse does just that…creating a mythos that is so complex and so out there, one could wonder how the fuck does someone like Brendon Small take all of this and all of the sudden start the boil down of what is clearly becoming the beginning of the end and still have you right where he wants…answer??

Brendon Small. He IS the answer. The writing for Metalocalypse is bar-none by yes giving us comedy and random jokes, but gives us metal fans a world to live in that for the first time ever we can see, clearly hearkening back to the days of Dio and Iron Maiden, where concerts were just more than awesome feats of musical entertainment, but brought along with it a world of dragons and monsters the likes of which encapsulates its audience in an experience that they never forget. “Church of the Black Klok” certainly brings that to the table, giving us worlds and experiences that will forever be remembered if only for one more season. That’s right our job is to now wait and watch until next year where surely we the audience will be locked in our seats waiting to watch what should be a conclusion for the ages.
