Review: Crash Canyon “Jake’s First Kiss”

Jake is worried that he will never get married, so his search for a new lady begins, and when Sid gets hit in the head with a golf ball, Sheila gets inspired to want to play golf with the Manderbelts.

Spoilers Below

Jake searches far and wide throughout the Canyon looking for that special one. So bear lady offers to help the boys in teaching them the ways to court the local ladies. Long story short, he strikes out on every one of them.

Norm and Sheila wanna play golf with the ‘belts but they don’t want to invite them into their country club, even though Beverly is bored and Mr. Manderbelt is bored with teeing off on his own. Eventually, he does invite Norm to play and he finds a loophole that also allows Sheila. This sets up a golf showdown between the Manderbelts and the Wendells but ends up with the good players(Reginald and Sheila) forming a clique over the bad players(Beverly and Norm). However, both couples end up being good friends, sharing in their spouses shortcomings. But, before long everyone in the Canyon gets in on the rousing game of golf, causing Beverly to get pissed and destroy her husbands’ clubs.

Ugh…you know whats worse than golf? Shows about golf! The whole golf plot line was lame and convoluted. The Jake plot was actually somewhat decent, and definitely shows the trials and tribulations of being a little dude, in a precarious situation. However, the Butane brothers making out was kind of odd to say the least. I thought this would be a good week too, because the opening seen with Vern was a great setup and I thought we would’ve rode that story but to no avail. Also, one note….Emily Butane and Jake are voiced by the same person Joanne Vannicola, and after a full episode of Jake we finish up with a one like from Joanne…problem here is the voices sound too identical and it actually sounded like Jake does the voice overs for Emily with no change up in the pitch.
