REVIEW: BOB’S BURGERS “Bob Fires the Kids”
Guest Cast Nick Offerman: Husband Megan Mullally: Beverly
Spoilers Below
Bob gets a whole bunch of his toys from his childhood and the kids aren’t impressed but as it turns out Bob’s upbringing wasn’t all that great because he always had to work. As a result Bob decides to fire the kids and look for new help. Problem is, the kids worked for free and no one else is willing to do the same…except Mickey the bank robber! He’s great too! The ex-con does dishes, wears the burger suit, and offers friendly customer service all for the great price of free! Well, one small price, Mickey lives in the basement and right off the bat is trying to dig a tunnel to the bank so he can try and rob it again. When Bob finds out, he fires Mickey.
Meanwhile, what the fuck are the kids gonna do on their summer break with no job? Well, they haven’t a clue and even tried to get their jobs back only to discover Mickey is here. After leaving in disgust, the kids come across a farm being tended to by an elderly hippie couple named Beverly and Cooper. They opt to offer the kids a $10 a day job to work on their farm with their first job being picking weed. Yep, turns out these farmers are pot growers and the parents don’t even know about the job. On the first day, Louise and Gene go with Coop to learn how to pick the weed, while Tina goes off on an errand for Bev by delivering ‘blueberries’. The jobs turn out to be so good that when Bob tries to rehire the kids but they decline. Worse yet, one of Tina’s customers tries to return his order, the parents find out and along with Mickey the Belcher parents head to the farm to get their kids. Almost on cue, the DEA shows up and arrests the whole family while Bev and Cooper try and flee. And not surprisingly this all makes for a great story when the kids get back to school, yea??
Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally get the glamour but the prize for funniest recurring character goes to Mickey who just killed it tonight. Of course, the best part is him trying to dig a tunnel to the bank and then cover it up Shawshank style with a Big poster! HAAAAAA! That said the hippie farmers were funny, but the plots were so-so where we get skimpy offerings of A) Bob’s back story, B) Bob fires the kids of whom get a new job C) Bob hires Mickey then D) the kids are running a drug ring. All good, but just light on the filling. That said, its been a long time since we’ve had some good Bobs and I’m glad to see him back!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
