Review: Bob’s Burgers ‘Seaplane!’

Spoilers Below

Linda’s pissed that Bob is boring as shit on picking date ideas and really wants more adventure in their dating. Linda opts to take Bob on a seaplane but the stubborn husband declines leading to Linda to take part in a fly lesson by herself. It’s here we meet Kurt and he does a hell of a job teaching Linda the ropes. Fischoeder comes by the restaurant and mentions that Kurt has a reputation that has given him the nickname ‘Upskirt Kurt’. Apparently, bored women board the seaplane, and then Kurt stages a crashed landing on an island leaving just him and Linda by themselves. That’s exactly what happens, and Bob doesn’t seem to care.

Bob and the kids head to the seaplane docks to find Linda, but alas she’s nowhere to be found. Problem is no one in town seems to have a boat and worse yet no one knows where this island is. Fischoeder tells Bob about the ferry, but it’s not a direct route so the fam has to catch up with a mail man to help get them to the island where Kurt is trying to take advantage of Linda. However, Linda is smarter than most of his catches, and she declines all of his advances but when the plane goes missing it looks as though the duo is STUCK.

Bob and the kids find a dingy and confronts Kurt, but rowing is really hard so he’s pretty winded. Thankfully, Fischoeder comes by with the plane and the family board it safely. Unfortunately, Kurt and Fisch speed up the boat that’s dragging the plane and it causes the plane to start flying with no pilot.

Bob and the kids end up having to cut the rope attaching the plane to the boat so as to avoid a bridge. The plane is now flying and Linda is the pilot but she’s never landed a plane before but she’s able to land the plane safely and now everyone’s safe.

And just like that, Bob’s puts out their best episode of their young season. For starters, Will Forte is one of the best actors/voice actors out there right now and he was hysterical as ‘Kurt’…HYSTERICAL! Jealous husband plots aren’t exactly a new thing, but more often than not they don’t really involve the kids and what’s great about Bob’s Burgers is that not only are the kids part of the plot but they are important. Tina sets up a song that goes on to be the anthem for the end credits, Louise and Gene egg on their Dad to make silly decisions.

There’s another point for Bob’s that I think is important. Slowly but surely Bob and Linda are taking the form of your rather contemporary husband-wife duo. How many couples do you think were out there watching this show potentially thinking, ‘Maybe OUR dating life, stinks?’ I’ll tell you this…probably most because marriages are usually lame. Bob’s Burgers…a voice of a generation?
