Review: Bob’s Burgers “Crab-solutely Fabulous”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The Belcher kids join a crustacean-themed wrestling show. Meanwhile, Linda tries to form a 21-day habit.
Our Take:
This week’s episode sees the Belchers feeling “crabby” as the kids participate in a wrestling competition involving people dressing up as crustaceans. After hearing that Teddy is working for the Crustacean Nation Wrestling Federation, the kids have him take them to the recreation center. There, the kids convinced creative director Carol to participate in the wrestling show, where they dressed up as barbaric, radioactive baby sea cucumbers. After embarrassing themselves with their corny “moves”, the kids get another chance with their “battle with the Sea Sponge” attempt, with Teddy dressing up as the Sea Sponge. Their match was a success, but it came with a cost.
The episode showcases the kids learning about fake wrestling. However, they also realize it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. This occurs when the kids become famous through their match with Teddy as the Sea Sponge. However, after enduring several rounds involving Teddy catching the kids for their special move, Teddy’s back gave out, resulting in the kids bringing in their parents to take over.
It represents that even though fake wrestling is fun, it doesn’t mean it’s less dangerous than actual wrestling. It takes much practice, concerning Gene and Tina, and someone can get seriously injured without taking some time off. More importantly, it involves performing every week on tour, which is enough for the kids to retire their wrestling cucumber personas. On a side note, I recognized that Carol is voiced by Jane Lynch while watching the episode. It took me a few lines of dialogue to recognize her voice, and I’m happy to see I was right.
We also see Linda attempting to provide a 21-day habit. However, her chosen pattern involves drinking ten glasses of water daily for the rest of her life. I hope you’re not thinking about using the bathroom while watching this episode. But, of course, that’s not the only habit Linda’s working on, as she switches from one thing to another throughout the episode, including flossing and exercising.
“Crab-solutely Fabulous” is another enjoyable episode that uses its basic plot to reflect on its topic. Aside from the humor involving an obvious and cringy crustacean-related joke, the episode was suitable in representing fake wrestling as something that should be taken seriously. Additionally, Jane Lynch did pretty well in voicing Carol. After watching this episode, I’m still glad that I didn’t pursue my career in wrestling, fake or otherwise.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
