Review: Animals “Pigeons”
Spoilers Below
Pigeons
Phil’s dad Larry is in town visiting and even has a business opportunity for his long lost boy.
Meanwhile, Mike is trying to get his son earning on badges WITHOUT a knife. His wife Meghan is all about giving her son a knife, but Mike isn’t agreeing on anything. Phil and Larry head over and let Mike in on the business venture. We come to find out that the business venture is really a gamble on a boxing match with Phil’s life savings on the line.
While Phil learns all about gambling and owing money to a loan shark, Mike’s son Jacob takes part in a montage featuring various opps to get badges, all of which go a wry. When Phil calls looking for help in his kidnapping, Mike jumps at the chance to show his son how to untie a knot, but ends up getting caught.
After learning that Julio (the kidnapper) was a one-time scout, he and Mike come to a mutual appreciation of each other which convinces Julio to let everyone free…until Meghan shows up and slices Julio’s neck. Phil’s dad takes off again, this time to his other son.
Turtles
Two turtles are in love with the same mechanical frog named Jeremy. Every time this frog comes by, the girls get nervous and then argue about the best thing to say about their toy crush. In any case, it doesn’t matter because the two turtles get bought, but the argument is really JUST getting started.
Skunks
A skunk discovers something unsavory about his date’s past. Turns out, she’s a registered sex offender. We learn that the lady skunk was a one-time teacher and she fucked a kid. In order to get past this hurdle, the guy has to sign a waiver, but this chick’s past is even worse than first thought.
Our Take
Ohhhh, I see. It’s March 11th, and 311 is the end credits song.
Fortunately, Animals turned up another solid effort. If you were a fan of the Pigeons the first-time around, you should really enjoy this week’s episode. But if you didn’t care for them on the show’s premiere, this episode won’t help because I’m not sure the ‘Skunks’ and ‘Turtles’ bits had enough meat on them to satisfy you.
In any event, kudos to whomever put a NJ Transit train pass in the background with the exit being my hometown drop off of Aberdeen-Matawan train station. Kids from NJ, we stick together…until they move to Hollywood (see: Kevin Smith, Danny DeVito, Jack Nicholson, etc) then it’s fair game.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
