Review: American Dad “Mean Francine”

Happy 200th Post to me!

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

After accidentally managing to keep Roger from scamming the school with fake censored books, Francine finds herself as the new guidance counselor. She seems optimistic about the job at first, but is soon swept up in the influence of a rebellious crew called the “Golden Girls”. Triggered by a need to be accepted, she ends up becoming obsessed with pleasing and becoming one of them, even at the cost of Steve’s newfound passion for fashion design. Soon realizing that she’s completely lost her sense of individuality, Steve helps her to define herself no matter how lame, as well as outing the Golden Girls as the products of incest and murderers.

Also, Jeff lost his hat and may have to get a new one. To be continued?

OUR TAKE

I feel like there could be a whole season made up of the main cast trying to be accepted by larger than life charismatic groups or people, and this plot is nothing new to any of that. You could seriously replace Francine with Stan or Steve or Hayley or Roger or Klaus and it would still be just as in character as ever. This is kind of a lukewarm plot for American Dad to go to break on, but it’s not exactly a surprise.
