Reddit AMA Recap: “Futurama” Producers Tease Huge Project On Horizon

Details are still vague at this juncture.

Producers of cast of Futurama are in the process of taking part in a Reddit AMA session, and while most of the questions have to do with the longevity of the series with a bunch of fun anecdotes about classic episodes, characters, and moments, a BIG story dropped when David X. Cohen revealed that something big was in the planning stages for the Futurama franchise with the official announcement to come later this Summer.  It started as a bit of a transition of when asked who from the popular animated series was part of the new Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow mobile game that dropped today:

A mini-staff of long-time Futurama writers was put together for the project. In fact, I am sitting here next to longtime Futurama writer Patric Verrone, who is one of them. He and other series writers (including me when available) will continue on an ongoing basis… lots of events coming down the road. – David X. Cohen

That then turned into what fans can look forward to in the next couple of months. It’s confirmed that there are NO new episodes or movies in the works, so what can it be?

There are no new TV episodes or movies in the pipeline at the moment… HOWEVER, here and now I promise a different avenue of exciting Futurama news later this summer, no kidding. Keep your expectations modest and you will be pleased, possibly. I am not allowed to say more or I will be lightlyphasered. – David X. Cohen
