Ratings Are In 2/3/16: Muppets Re-Launch Fizzles
The ratings are in, and they aren’t looking good for ABC’s relaunch of The Muppets in the overnights, but as Deadline notes, maybe if word of mouth goes around about the improvements from critics, the show could bounce back in the Live +3 or Live +7 numbers.
While receiving largely positive reviews, the opening episode of The Muppets 2.0 drew a paltry 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 2.7 million viewers in the fast nationals. Both were series lows, down -27% and -29%, respectively, from the comedy’s most recent original that had posted its previous low marks. Patience is key with comedy but these numbers are pretty discouraging, especially given the fact that The Muppets logged them with a lead-in, Fresh Off the Boat, after being a self-starter at 8 PM in the fall, and only was able to hold on to about half of its lead-in.
What sucks most is that Key and Peele guest-starred and are getting ready to do a bunch of shit for the Super Bowl, so if THESE guys can’t save this show, than we may only have the one season of The Muppets.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
