Paramount picks up Anomalisa
Almost 12 years ago next month, Paramount Pictures pushed out the Trey Parker-Matt Stone produced Team America: World Police. The film, while a small success, was so far ahead of its time that people probably didn’t know what to think. A marionette feature, the film was politically incorrect, sexy, and showcased Matt and Trey’s talents beyond South Park that would later be surpassed by Book of Mormon several years later.
Enter Anomalisa, Paramount’s latest acquisition from Starburns Industries produced by Duke Johnson and Charlie Kaufman. The film will be released in limited fashion on New Year’s Eve Eve in both Los Angeles and NYC, with hopes of an Academy Award nomination.
Could we be seeing a repeat? Like Team America, Anomalisa is exuding qualities that you simply do not get in stop-motion films, or any animated films, these days. Oh yea, and Starburns is way overdue in terms of getting accolades. Even the studio’s most popular production, Rick and Morty, constantly gets overlooked at the Emmys. This film could be the studio’s Toy Story akin to Pixar.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
